Strawberries with Balsamic Vinegar

Did you know that the classic combination of strawberries and balsamic vinegar has been around since the Renaissance times? Well, I am not surprised! The sweetness and acidity of those two ingredients work miracles together. This light, refreshing, and elegant dessert is very simple to make and perfect for any Season.

For best results, use a high quality balsamic vinegar!

Strawberries with Balsamic Vinegar

Ingredients

1lb strawberries, quartered lengthwise
1/4 cup good-quality balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons superfine sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/4 cup small mint leaves

Directions

Heat balsamic, sugar and lemon juice in a small saucepan, stirring until all combined. Remove from heat and leave to cool.

Wash, pat dry, trim, cut and strawberries in a medium sized plastic container (choose one that has a lid).

Pour cooled balsamic vinegar mixture over the strawberries, add mint leaves, cover the container with a lid and shake it gently to coat strawberries.

Marinate it inside the refrigerator for 1 to 4 hours. Serve it with ice-cream, cake, cookies, etc.
